Summary of Attractions:

Maasai Mara Game Reserve is an extension of the Serengeti National Reserve in Tanzania. It is not the largest park in Kenya, but probably the most famous. The entire area of the park is nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley that extends from the Mediterranean Sea to South Africa. The terrain is primarily open grassland with clusters of acacia tree. Wildlife tends to be most concentrated in the western border in the Oloololo escarpment because the swampy ground means that access to water is always good and human disruption is usually minimal.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara
Meet and greet at your preferred residence within Nairobi by our representative who will welcome you and brief you about your safari. After the briefing you will depart to Maasai Mara Game Reserve driving through beautifully farmed agricultural lands and the Great Rift Valley. You will also stop shortly at the escarpment view point for a photo. You will arrive at the Mara for lunch at the lodge. Spend the evening within the park, which is also home to the colorfully decorated Maasai tribesmen. You may occasionally see them criss crossing the park as they go about their daily activities completely unbothered by the wild animals which roam in the bushes.

Day 2: Maasai Mara
Spend these days within the Mara Reserve, home to the big five and numerous plains game. You will also visit the Mara River Ecosystem which is teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile, in the heart of Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve. It offers the best game and bird-viewing not only in Kenya, but anywhere in Africa. The views across the rolling golden grasslands studded with acacia trees, rivers and forests are dazzling, the sense of space overwhelming. You will explore the park and the vicinity, gently blending into the surrounding wilderness which remains in its virgin condition, while the landscaped gardens filled with indigenous trees at the back which draw a great variety of birds and butterflies. On these days, you will also enjoy the following activities available at an extra cost:

Cultural visit to a Maasai village
Early in the morning before breakfast, depart from the camp and visit a nearby Maasai Manyatta / Maasai village /Maasai Homestead, popularly known as "Enkang" in the Maasai Language, for a cultural tour. You will have an opportunity to intermingle with the colorful Maasai tribesmen amidst traditional songs and dances or folklore. These homesteads are made from cow dung and wooden sticks, fenced by a thick round thorn bush fence. The fence protects the people and their cattle from attacks by wild animals and rival tribes. Women are the ones responsible for putting up these homes. Each homestead consists of several houses arranged in order of ranking from the eldest members of the community to the youngest ones. Women also try to earn a living by making and selling traditional ornaments and curios such as necklaces, sandals, clothing, bracelets, chokers, and others. The tour ends after an hour when you return to the lodge for breakfast.

Guided nature walks and bird walks
Enjoy a guided tour by our professional naturalist which is a great opportunity for bird watching. The walk is designed to enhance your awareness of the splendour of the natural environment in the Maasai Mara.

Hot Air Balloon Safari
Enjoy an hour's flight above the spectacular Mara Reserve a drift a hot air balloon which takes off at dawn. The balloon ride gives you a bird's eye view of the best East Africa has to offer in the magnificent setting of the Great Rift Valley. Early morning is the ideal time to see wild animals on the plains and the sights and sounds that only an eagle ever sees. Upon landing you will be greeted by a sumptuous bush breakfast. Proceed with scheduled activities after your balloon safari.

Lunch, dinner and breakfast at Mara Simba Lodge

Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and enjoy a final morning game drive for an opportunity to see the park one more time as you exit and be driven back to Nairobi with lunch en route. You will arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon and be taken to the Nairobi National Museum for a historical tour of the facility. After your visit to the Museum, you will be taken to the city centre for a shopping expedition. You will visit various markets, shopping malls and supermarkets for your shopping spree. transferred to your preferred destination within the city, marking the end of your safari.
